The Bible Research and Gospel Propagation Church came into being in 1974 in Ghana as a reformatory movement to restore and exalt the Biblical principles of faith in these last days for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

It grew out of a prayer and evangelistic movement known as “Gospel Message Group” around nineteen seventies in SDA Church in Kumasi ,Ghana. The group was formed to help address the spiritual declension in the church at that time and proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ to perishing souls in the world. They upheld the righteousness by faith in Jesus Christ, the sanctity of God’s law, the proper observance of the Saturday Sabbath, and healthful living.

They promoted the rival of primitive faith and godliness of the pioneer Adventists like James White, E.G. White, Joseph Bates and J.N. Andrews.

The activities of the Gospel Message Group were reported and misrepresented to the Ghana Conference of SDA Church by the Amakom Church Board. At a meeting with the leadership of Ghana Conference of SDA Church, the group maintained that their activities were in harmony with the teaching and principles of the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy by E.G. White.

The group which was led by Mr.James Kwabena Obeng were censured and later on disfellowshipped by a letter written by Pastor J.K. Amoah, the then president of the Ghana Conference of SDA Church in Kumasi. The reasons of their disfellowshipment were that:

(1) They had formed a prayer and evangelistic group known as the ‘’Gospel Message Group”

(2).They were preaching “strange doctrines’’ that were contrary to the church policies in the SDA Church manual.

(3)They had preached the gospel beyond their territory.

Some of the disfellowshippped members organized themselves into a reformatory movement and

continued preaching Biblical truth like faith in Jesus Christ, God’s law, health reform principles and Christ our righteousness to the perishing souls in towns and villages in Ghana.

The movement was later on organized into a church known as Bible Research and Gospel Propagation Church.

The Church accepts all the principles of the Bible and the Spirit of prophecy of E.G. White. The church also accepts all the fundamental beliefs of the pioneer Adventists. The church believes that with prayer, man can strive with all the power God has given him to live a holy Christian life.
